A day out to Brighton - Tuesday 3rd May 2011

On Tuesday 3rd May we had an excellent day out to Brighton on the train, we started our day on the 0856 First Capital Connect service to London Kings Cross on 365509, apon arrival at Kings Cross we took the short walk over to St Pancras to board First Capital Connect 377509 on the fast service to Brighton.

In Brighton we purchased Brighton & Hove's new mega value saver ticket - it is only £2 if you board the bus and show your train ticket at the train station, from there we travelled on ROUTE 7 to Brighton Marina which produced brand new Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini 2 BJ11XHX...

BJ11XHX photographed later in the day at Old Steine, it wears a generic B&H livery without route branding.

After lunch at Wetherspoons we returned to the city centre to photograph some vehicles at Old Steine, I was lucky enough to discover not one but three B&H Irizar coaches, one of the Mercedes Benz Ciraros and a couple of The Big Lemon vehicles...

B&H Irizar PB HF08UHT, with simlar YR58RUH just visable in the background.

B&H Irizar Century YN03WPX.

The four Mercedes Benz Citaros Brighton & Hove own can often be hard to find as they only operate peak time runs between the Old Steine and Falmer Station but I was lucky enough to find BX02YZH.

The Big Lemon are an unusual operator, they operate low quality vehicles such as the this ex Stagecoach Alexander PS K779DAO on two term time only services serving the university, they seemed to be stuggleing for trade against the superb high quality B&H operation - although I hear they have quite a loyal student following

Stagecoach operate into Brighton on a couple of services including the Coastliner 700 on which they use Enviro 300 & 400's like GX10KZM seen above.

Final picture is another of the 21 new Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini 2's BJ11XHF which is branded for ROUTE 6.

All to soon 1630 came and it was time to leave Brighton, we had FCC 377503 on the slow service back to St Pancras then FCC 365516 back from Kings Cross to Kings Lynn.
