Gearing up for Showbus!

The biggest event on the bus enthusiasts calender SHOWBUS may be four months away but entries are already appearing online and highlights for this year event have been announced!

Highlights for this years event which will take place on Sunday 18th September are as follows...

Maidstone & District Centenary display and parade.

Kent based Maidstone & District would be 100 years old this year. Since deregulation the company has passed into the ownership of Arriva and its Hastings operations are with Stagecoach. Back in April a big display was held at the Kent County Showground and it is hope many of those M&D buses will be making their way to Duxford. The Maidstone & District Preservation Group are supporting our gathering. At noon the M&D entries will parade across the site and be on display all day.

SHOWBUS Showcase.
A new trade display will be located in front of the impressive American Air Museum. See some of the latest models from the bus and coach industry.

Model buses
TTC Diecast will be releasing two models linked to SHOWBUS international 2011. The Jotus model of London's unique rear engined Routemaster will be
available as a special SHOWBUS edition. TTC Diecast will also be showcasing their new release program for future commissions and brand new projects for 2011/12.

Special Displays
Several anniversaries will be celebrated this year in addition to our usual displays. Besides the Maidstone & District centennial display there will be one celebrating fifty years of the Alexander Y type and London RML Routemaster, 60 years of London's RFs in addition to the usual Plaxton, Stagecoach, First and Arriva displays, there will also be a special display of Alexander Dennis Enviro models.

On Site Shuttle
With the display spreading from one end of the mammoth Duxford site to the other, there will be a free low floor shuttle bus running the length of the site between 11.30am and 4.15pm. Some
double deckers will supplement the service to afford grandstand views of the display.

Bus service from Cambridge
Stagecoach Citi7 will provide a service from Cambridge Stations to Duxford. This will bb supplemented by extra journeys in the morning and a late return journey.

New Shuttle Bus from Whittlesford
There will be a link bus from nearby Whittlesford Station. This has restricted hours of operation so check the timetable. It is however much quicker than the citi7 from Cambridge.

The Bus Station
This will be the area immediately in front of Showbus Control, by the American Air Museum. The Bus Station will be for vehicles coming and going on the DUXFORD VILLAGE TOURS throughout the afternoon.
