Konectbus & Anglianbus News - includes forthcoming service changes plus the latest fleet update

konectbus & anglianbus will be making a number of changes to their networks in Norfolk and Suffolk from the beginning of January 2014 - below is a summary of the main changes due to take place along with links to both operators websites where full round ups of the changes can be found. New timetables will also be available to download from both websites during the week commencing 9th December 2013.

konectbus service changes - from 5th January 2014

konectbus will be taking over operation of anglianbus services 50, 50A and 51 in the Norwich area;

50 | 50A Gertrude Road – City Centre – Eaton Park (50) / Cringleford (50A)
There will be a revised timetable and routing. Gertrude Road/Mousehold Street section of route still served as previously. The Avenues no longer served - this section of route is now served by konectbus 9. Alternate journeys serve Eaton Park (50) or Cringleford (50A - previously konect bus 52).

51 South Walsham – City Centre
This service will operate between Pilson Green and City Centre only. Frequency beyond Little Plumstead reduced. Eaton to be served by konectbus new 52.

52 Blofield Heath - Brundall - Norwich - Eaton
Revised timetable with service now commencing at Blofield Heath instead of Acle. Acle will be served by anglianexpress 7. Cringleford section of route will be served by konectbus 50A.

anglianbus service changes - from 5th January 2014

As mentioned in the section above anglianbus services 50, 50A and 51 will be taken over by konectbus, there are also significant changes taking place on the following routes;

anglianexpress 7 Norwich - Acle - Great Yarmouth
Improvements to this service include a new frequency of up to every 20 minutes between Norwich and Great Yarmouth, as well as connections (no change of bus required!) to Gorleston, Lowestoft, Kessingland and Southwold with service 61. The route will also serve Acle replacing konectbus 52.

60 Beccles – Lowestoft – Tesco/James Paget Hospital
Service will operate every 30 minutes between Beccles and Lowestoft Bus Station, but will serve Carlton Colville village, Ribblesdale and part of Long Road instead of Hollow Grove Way and Long Meadow Walk. Every other bus will continue via Lowestoft College, Bentley Drive to James Paget Hospital. Through peak hour buses will operate from Bungay and to East Norfolk 6th Form College.

61 Southwold – Kessingland – Lowestoft – Gorleston - Great Yarmouth
Most services will now link in with service 7 at Yarmouth providing through journey opportunities to/from Norwich up to every 20 minutes. Other minor changes to timetable and revised Sunday times.

konectbus & anglianbus fleet update

Fleet movements due to take affect prior to the above service changes taking place are as follows;

anglianbus Optare Solo Slimlines 950 AU07 KMM, 951 AU07 KMK, 952 AO57 BDY and 953 YN57 HPX will move to konectbus.

In an update since this this post was first published we have been informed that konectbus Optare Solos 900 VX51 RHZ and 901 VX51 RJZ which had been due transfer to Hedingham Omnibuses will now remain with konectbus.
