Looking back... Spalding in the late 1990's - part 1

Today we bring you the first part of another two part Looking back... photos special, in this selection, using photographs from David Bell's archives we take a look at a variety of operators in the Spalding area in the late 1990's.

Operators featured in this part include Brylaine, Kimes, Delaine, Fowlers and Travel Wright of Newark.

First up we see L29 CAY, Travel Wright of Newark's Great North Eastern Railway (GNER) liveried Caetano Algarve bodied Dennis Javelin is seen here away from it's usual Lincoln to Newark rail link service, this coach was new in 1994 © David Bell

Next up we see Fowlers Travel Plaxton Derwent bodied Dennis Javelin H447 EVK operating on the 505 to King's Lynn, this bus was new to Hammel, Stanley in 1991 and after seeing service with Fowlers passed to Greys of Ely in 2000 © David Bell.

Here we see Delaine of Bourne's rare Duple 300 bodied Leyland Tiger F603 VEW, the Anglian Water building that towers above Spalding bus station can be seen in the background, this bus was new in 1988 and survives in preservation with a private owner © David Bell

The penultimate photo in this part features Folkingham-based Kimes Leyland Titan TAZ 4061, this operator was absorbed into Centrebus last year with their Spalding area services passing to Brylaine Travel © David Bell.

We finish this part with Brylaine Travel of Boston, here we see Duple Dominant IV bodied Ford R114 BEY 440W, this vehicle was new to Welsh operator Express Motors in 1991 © David Bell.
