Looking back... Colchester in 1994 - part 2

Today we continue our latest Looking back... feature with another trip back 20 years to take a look at the colourful local bus scene that could be found in Colchester in 1994, across the three parts of this post, using photographs from David Bell's wonderful archives we will see operators including Beestons, Chambers, Colchester Borough Transport, Eastern Counties, Eastern National, Hedingham Omnibuses & more.

First up today is this striking Beestons Leyland National - EMB 363S, this smart vehicle was new to Crossville in 1978 © David Bell.

Next we see an example of the Cedric's fleet - ECW bodied Bristol VRT WWY 120S, this bus was acquired from Stephensons Of Rochford in 1993 and was new to West Yorkshire in 1977 © David Bell.

The first of two Hedingham vehicles in this post is East Lancs bodied Leyland Tiger WPH 135Y, this bus was brought new by Hedingham © David Bell.

The penultimate photo in this part shows Colchester Borough Transport ECW bodied Leyland Atlantean YNO 77S, this bus was new in 1978 and survives as an open topper in preservation © David Bell.

Back to Hedingham for the final photo in this post, seen here is Alexander RL bodied Leyland Olympian H160 HJN, this bus was also brought from new by Hedingham and remains in their fleet today © David Bell.
