This week regular correspondent Philip Slynn continues his series of Looking back... guest posts with this, the last of three features focusing on three different small Cambridgeshire independents of the past, spread over two parts we look at ten interesting vehicles operated by Enterprise of Chatteris - another operator who is no longer around...
We start with E863 LFL, a Bedford YNV new in 1987. It is pictured here in 1989 in Queensgate bus station Peterborough © Philip Slynn.
This DAF SBR, C333 HHB, was new to Thomas of Tonypandy in 1986 and came to Enterprise in 1989. It is shown here in 1991 at the Peterborough showground © Philip Slynn.
This 1970 Daimler Fleetline, NXA 626H was new to W Alexander & Son(Fife). Enterprise acquired it in 1985 from New Enterprise of Tonbridge. Seen here laying over in Peterborough in 1988 © Philip Slynn.
This 1978 Leyland National, THX 225S was new to London Transport as LS225 and purchased by Enterprise in 1991. It is pictured laying over in Peterborough before returning to Ramsey on service 330. (Funnily enough during my childhood the Ramsey service under ECOC operation was the 341 and I used to travel on it regularly to visit relatives. Service 330 at that time was the market day service from Peterborough to the village of Newborough, and I occasionally used this service as it went via where I used to live in Peterborough.) © Philip Slynn.
Finally for this batch is 1978 Bedford YMT, SHL 882S with Plaxton Supreme bodywork that came to Enterprise in 1984 from Angel of London N15. This picture was taken in 1985 at their premises in Chatteris © Philip Slynn.
Look out for the second part of this post - coming soon!
