Saturday 31st May saw a special vintage bus running day, hosted by Stagecoach take place in and around the Cheltenham area, the event was held to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Cheltenham District Traction Company and also to mark the retirement of local Stagecoach Managing Director, Ian Manning, who has led the Company for the last 11 years.
Our regular correspondent David Bell attended the excellent day which saw well over 20 buses running in service around Cheltenham, Gloucester & Tewkesbury - he comments: "In a remarkable feat of logistics vintage vehicles from far and wide were drafted in to run on normal services duplicating more modern buses. There was also a free bus service from the town centre to the Racecourse GWR station using two preserved Portuguese left-hand drive Regent Vs".
This two part photo feature includes various photos of vintage buses taken at the event, all have been kindly supplied by David Bell.
