The weekend of the 27/28th September saw a large scale Rail Replacement take place from Cambridge, the service was required due to both lines South of the city being closed for engineering works, two services operated - Cambridge to Royston replacing Great Northern trains towards Kings Cross and Cambridge to Audley End replacing Greater Anglia trains towards Liverpool Street.
David Bell was on hand to record workings over the weekend and has kindly supplied us with a selection of photographs to share with you, he comments; "There were a large number of operators involved in the rail replacement several of which had supplied double deckers - Herberts, Panther, Youngs, Dews, Millers and Sullivans with coaches being supplied by Youngs again, Discovery of Stretham, Kiddles, Tates of Markyate, Richmonds, Collins, J & D Eurotravel of Harrow, Neals ,Chambers, Gary Bishop of Outwell, Paynes of Offord Cluny, Welham Travel, Harrods and South East Coaches of South Woodham Ferrers."

Local operator Young's Coached had their pair of smart Northern Counties Palatine bodied Volvo Olympian out, R385 LGH was previously owned by London General as part of their commercial fleet (c) David Bell.
Kiddles Coaches Plaxton Panther bodied Iveco Eurorider SN09 LSF, until recently this vehicle carried SunFun branding, it was new to Allan's of Gorebridge (c) David Bell.
Although still carrying Go Whippet livery, East Lancs bodied Volvo Olympian P345 ROO is now operating for Millers of Foxton, it was new to Harris Bus in 1997 (c) David Bell.
