More Cambridge Rail Replacement - photo special!

The weekend of the 27/28th September saw a large scale Rail Replacement take place from Cambridge, the service was required due to both lines South of the city being closed for engineering works, two services operated - Cambridge to Royston replacing Great Northern trains towards Kings Cross and Cambridge to Audley End replacing Greater Anglia trains towards Liverpool Street.

David Bell was on hand to record workings over the weekend and has kindly supplied us with a selection of photographs to share with you, he comments; "There were a large number of operators involved in the rail replacement several of which had supplied double deckers - Herberts, Panther, Youngs, Dews, Millers and Sullivans with coaches being supplied by Youngs again, Discovery of Stretham, Kiddles, Tates of Markyate, Richmonds, Collins, J & D Eurotravel of Harrow, Neals ,Chambers, Gary Bishop of Outwell, Paynes of Offord Cluny, Welham Travel, Harrods and South East Coaches of South Woodham Ferrers."

We will start this part with a minicoach, J&D Eurotravel Sitcar bodied Mercedes-Benz 0816D CA11 JDE which is seen approaching Cambridge Station, the new office building in the background provides an attractive urban backdrop for photographs in this location (c) David Bell.

Next up is former Stagecoach Alexander RL bodied Volvo Olympian R122 EVX which now operates for Herberts Travel, it was new to Stagecoach Selkent in 1998 (c) David Bell.

Here turning on to Hills Road in Cambridge is D A Payne Kassbohrer Setra CSV 253 (c) David Bell.

Another vehicle from the Millers of Foxton fleet noted on the RRS was ex Brighton & Hove Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident Y853 GCD (c) David Bell.

The penultimate photo in this feature is Neoplan bodied MAN 18.350 N555 LPH operated by Coach of Langtoft, this coach was new as Y146 HWE and previously operated for East Yorkshire Coaches where it carried cherished registration A10 EYC (c) David Bell.

We finish with this interesting Chambers of Stevenage short wheelbase Plaxton Premiere bodied Dennis Javelin T403 BFC, it previously operated for Pearce of Berinsfield (c) David Bell.
