Showbus 2014: Bus selection - part 1

This week we are continuing our coverage of Showbus 2014 with a three part 'Bus selection' series, it includes a mix of both vintage and modern buses that attended the event at Duxford IWM on Sunday 21st September, all of the photographs from this year's Showbus have been kindly supplied by our regular correspondents Colin Apps and David Bell.

Showbus 2014: Bus selection 1/3 - operators featured include Norfolk Green, Stagecoach Cambridge, Tourmaster of Crowland as well as a selection of private owners.

Stagecoach Norfolk Green 47244 GX55 DXO (c) David Bell
We'll start with our local operator Norfolk Green who attended the event with Optare Solo M850SL 47244 GX55 DXO, a recent transfer from Stagecoach Hants & Surrey it looks very smart in the Stagecoach version of the Norfolk Green livery (c) David Bell.

Crosville Leyland National WFM 801K (c) Colin Apps
Next up is the latest addition to Julian Patterson's superb collection - Crosville Leyland National WFM 801K, is seen here at the event looking immaculate in it's green livery, this dual door vehicle was new in 1972 (c) Colin Apps.

Stagecoach East P541 EFL (c) David Bell
Stagecoach Cambridge took along their open top Volvo Olympian P541 EFL, it was previously part of Cambridge City Sightseeing fleet until the operation was upgraded to low floor vehicles, it now wears this smart mainly white livery and is part of the special events fleet although it can occasionally be found back on City Sightseeing duties if required (c) David Bell.

Lincolnshire Bristol VRT JVL 619H (c) Colin Apps
The first of two green liveried ECW bodied Bristol VRTs in this part is Lincolnshire JVL 619H, this was new in 1969, in the nineties it was owned by Milton Keynes Council and was used in a number of non-PSV roles including a playbus (c) Colin Apps.

Eastern National Bristol VRT UAR 597W (c) Colin Apps
Another green Bristol VRT at the event was Eastern National UAR 597W, this bus was new in 1981, it passed to Western Wational in 1992 and worked until as late as 2004 under First ownership (c) Colin Apps.

Tourmaster M140 KRU (c) Colin Apps
Back to a modern(ish!) bus now to take a look a Tourmaster of Crowland's smart early step entrance Optare Spectra bodied DAF DB250 M140 KRU, this was new to Wilts and Dorset, it joined the Tourmaster fleet in 2013 (c) Colin Apps.

We finish this part with another shot of Julian Patterson's Leyland National WFM 801K which is seen here in the company of Halton Transport Leyland National II C49 OCM - the last ever Leyland National II built (c) Colin Apps.
