LVVS Autumn Running Day 2014 - part 2

Sunday 2nd November saw the annual Lincolnshire Vintage Vehicle Society autumn running day take place in Lincoln, this end of season event continues to grow in popularity and this year was no exception with the museum breaking its record for the most paying visitors through the gates with 1100 entering during the day, vehicle numbers were also up with 45 visiting buses and coaches in attendance and around 37 examples (including those from the museum's own collection) in service on free services around the city. As in recent years our regular correspondent David Bell attended and has kindly shared a selection of photos from the enjoyable event with us - they have been spread across two parts.

North Western JMA 413L
First we have this smart ECW bodied Bristol RE JMA 413L which looks resplendent after a recent repaint, it was the first of a batch of five RELH coaches for North Western in 1972, it later (along with three others from the batch) passed to Peake & Cooke of Pontypool. This bus has been in preservation since 1993 (c) David Bell.

Tyne & Wear 952 JUB
Next up we see Tyne & Wear Roe bodied AEC Regent V 952 JUB, this bus was new to Leeds City Transport in 1964 before passing to the Tyne & Wear PTE in 1975, after four years there it was withdrawn and entered preservation, it returned to the road this year after a further period of restoration (c) David Bell.

Trent ONN 571P
Pictured here is Trent Leyland Atlantean ONN 571P, it was one of a batch of seven ECW bodied Atlanteans bought by Trent in 1976, unfortunately shortly after entering service it was damaged in the July 1976 Meadow Road depot fire along with two others of the batch - 573 (ONN 573P) and 577 (ORB 577P) which had not even entered service, 573/7 were sadly damaged beyond repair whilst the chassis of 571 was saved and sent to the Willowbrook factory at Loughborough and emerged with a new body in 1977 (c) David Bell.

United Counties KNV 337
Here we have United Counties ECW bodied Bristol K KNV 337 which dates from 1954 (c) David Bell.

Leicester TBC 50X
The penultimate photo in this selection shows newly restored Leicester City Transport East Lancs bodied Dennis Dominator TBC 50X which made its debut last year, this bus was new in 1982 (c) David Bell.

Midland G918 LHA
We finish with one of the increasing number of Leyland Olympians entering preservation - East Lancs bodied G918 LHA, this bus was new to Midland Red North in 1989 and later operated Arriva North West, it latterly saw service with Paul S Winston (c) David Bell.

Many thanks once again to David for the great selection of photographs used in this two part special.
