Looking back... St Albans in the 90's - part 1

For our latest Looking back... feature we are travelling south to Hertfordshire to take a look at a selection of buses operating in the city of St Albans in the 1990's, operators featured include mainly Universitybus (which is of course now the much more colourful Uno) and the Blazefield group's Sovereign as well as Buffalo Bus, County Bus & Coach and Seamarks. All of the photographs in this feature have been kindly supplied by David Bell.

M101 UKX - Sovereign Wright Endurance bodied Volvo B10B new in 1995, this bus subsequently passed to Arriva and now operates with Jim Bell Coaches of Hull (c) David Bell.

C260 SPC - County Bus & Coach Green Line branded Duple 320 bodied Leyland Tiger, this bus was new to London Country in 1986 operating from depots including Staines and Guildford (c) David Bell.

M255 UKX - Universitybus rare Wright / Mercedes Benz Urbanranger new in 1995, this is one of sixteen of this type based on the Wright Crusader built - two of which were new to this operator (c) David Bell.

THX 261S - Universitybus Leyland National / East Lancs Greenway, this bus was formally London Transport Leyland National LS261 new in 1978, it underwent Greenway conversion in 1993 just before joining the newly formed Universitybus fleet (c) David Bell.

M48 HUT - Universitybus rare Bluebird Q, this was one of four of this unusual type new to this operator in 1994, nineteen of this American designed type were sold in the UK between 1992-6 (c) David Bell.

THX 533S - Buffalo Bus Park Royal bodied Leyland Fleetline new to London Transport as DM2533 in 1978, shortly after being photographed here this bus passed to Bygone Buses of Staplehurst (c) David Bell.
