For the latest feature in our popular Looking back... series we are heading across The Wash to take a look at a typical Sunny Summer Sunday in Skegness in circa 1990, a time when all sorts of buses and coaches used to turn up at the Lincolnshire coastal resort. Included in this three parter are photos of both local buses in action as well as visiting coaches from around the UK, all of the photographs are from David Bell's fantastic archives - enjoy!
We'll start this part as we did with the last with some local buses, first up is another Road Car open topper, East Lancs bodied Leyland Atlantean UBV 85L which when pictured here was carrying a multitude of colourful advertisements for local businesses, this was new to Blackburn Corporation in 1972 (c) David Bell.
Next up carrying a overall advert for Skegness Stadium is Road Car ECW bodied Bristol VR SVL 176W (c) David Bell.
A local independent still around today is Hunts, seen here operating on Summer service is Seddon bodied Leyland Panther MCK 229J, this bus was new to Preston Corporation in 1971 (c) David Bell.
On to some visiting coaches for this view of this smart Grayscroft Coaches Plaxton Paramount bodied Dennis Javelin G961 WNR which was new when pictured here (c) David Bell.
The penultimate photo in this part shows East Yorkshire Leyland Royal Tiger 46 EYB, this caoch which carries the name Haltemprice Star was new in 1984 (c) David Bell.
