Out & about in Oakham - a Centrebus town

For our latest Out & about post we are heading to the East Midlands, to the Rutland county town of Oakham where on a short visit to the market town last week our regular correspondent David Bell photographed a selection of vehicles operated in the area Centrebus, the company operate all notable services in the area to and from locations including Peterborough, Corby, Melton Mowbray, Nottingham and Leicester using a varied and increasingly modern fleet of vehicles...

Centrebus YY64GWE
We start with the newest vehicle noted, Alexander Dennis Enviro200 YY64 GWE which carries smart 'Five counties' branding for the 9/19 Peterborough - Oakham - Nottingham service which passes through the counties of Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire (c) David Bell.

Also seen operating on the 9/19 route between Peterborough and Nottingham was MCV Evolution bodied VDL SB180 YH63 CXC (c) David Bell.

Centrebus AN09BUS
Independent Folkingham-based operator Kimes ran numerous services in the area including the 9 before being acquired by Centrebus in 2011, operations were eventually merged into the Centrebus network with former Kimes vehicles being repainted into Centrebus colours, a former Kimes bus still noted at work in the area last week was Wrightbus bodied VDL SB200 AN09 BUS (c) David Bell.

Next up seen operating the Oakham Hopper service is Optare Solo YJ51 ZVZ, this M920 model Solo was new to Nottingham City Transport (c) David Bell.

The penultimate photo in this post shows ex Stagecoach London Alexander ALX200 bodied Dennis Dart SLF LX51 FGZ (c) David Bell.

Centrebus YX63LGG
We finish with another fairly recent addition to fleet, Alexander Dennis Enviro200 YX63 LGG which has an unusual appearance with a mismatch of front end panels, it is seen operating on the 41 from Stamford (c) David Bell.
