Looking back... Ipswich vintage variety - part 1

For his latest guest feature, Philip Slynn is heading to the Suffolk county town of Ipswich to share a selection of photographs taken on his various visits to the area over the years, in this part are vehicles operated by the long established municipal Ipswich Buses whilst the next part will focus on the independents of the time.

TRY 119H - Our next picture is a Bristol RELL6L with ECW bodywork new to Leicester City in December 1969. A number of these were purchased by Ipswich in 1980. 2 of these are listed as preserved, but as Leicester City vehicles rather than Ipswich (c) Philip Slynn.

ADX 193 - Our last picture is something different. I have no pictures of Ipswich trolleybuses in service with Ipswich, but illustrated here is an ex Ipswich trolleybus that was purchased by Walsall Corporation in 1962. It was new to Ipswich in 1950 and is a Sunbeam F4 with Park Royal bodywork. A sister vehicle is listed as preserved by the Ipswich transport Museum (c) Philip Slynn.

Thanks to Philip for the photos and captions included in this post, look out for the second part - coming soon.
