A couple of hours in Grantham - part 1

For his latest guest post here on ABB our regular correspondent Philip Slynn has been Out & about in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham; "On a very hot day in early July I had a couple of hours spare in Grantham. Services are mainly operated by Centrebus, with a bit of a mixed fleet of vehicles both old and new. Here are a few examples of what was around in those two hours."

Grantham 1/2 (c) Philip Slynn
Branded for Grantham town services is this Optare Solo new to Centrebus in 2010. Fleet no 320 (c) Philip Slynn.

Another vehicle branded for Grantham town services is fleet no 555 a Dennis Dart. This was new to Lutonian of Luton in 2005. I believe Lutonian eventually became part of Centrebus (c) Philip Slynn.

Seen here waiting to go on service is Centrebus 885. Looking rather scruffy compared to some of the others, this one was part of the Kimes fleet when Centrebus took them over. It is a Dennis Trident new to Blue Triangle in 2001. Other ex Kimes double deckers I saw at the depot were looking equally as scruffy having not been repainted (c) Philip Slynn.

Another bus laying over is this 1996 Dennis Dart belonging to Pulfrey of Grantham. It clearly shows its Brighton origins having not been repainted (c) Philip Slynn.

Stagecoach have a presence on the Interconnect service and here we have Interconnect branded Scania fleet no 15652. After arriving from Lincoln it then does a short working to the Manthorpe Estate and here it is departing on that service (c) Philip Slynn.

Finally for this part, we have another Centrebus vehicle fleet no 904 a 2007 East Lancs bodied Scania new to London United. It is shown here in Transpeak livery but without the branding. This bus was de-roofed in 2013 whilst off route in Stockport according to reports and pictures on FLICKR (c) Philip Slynn.

Thanks to Philip for the photos and captions included in this post, look out for the second part - coming soon!
