It's been a good while since our last general update on the latest bus scene in the East Norfolk seaside town of Great Yarmouth so a recent visit to the area by our regular correspondent David Bell to photograph First's recently unveiled heritage livery gives us a great chance to catch up, included in this two part feature are a selection of David's excellent photos taken in the town on the day, operators featured include First whose local fleet has continued to be varied and also increasingly modern in recent years as well as Anglianbus and Ambassador...
We'll start with the star of the show, First's Great Yarmouth Transport heritage liveried Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL 59 W219 XBD which is pictured here operating on the 1A to Martham (c) David Bell.
In comparison to the above is standard First liveried Alexander ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL 32063 W223 XBD working on the 1A towards Lowestoft, this batch of ex Leicester vehicles have recently undergone a refurbishment programme including bringing them up the latest DDA specifications and repainting them into the latest First livery (c) David Bell.
One of two South Yorkshire Wright Renown bodied Volvo B10BLEs currently on loan to First Eastern Counties to cover for vehicles away on loan is 60622 R785 WKW seen here operating on local service 5 from Burgh Castle, since this photo was taken this bus has moved to Norwich depot (c) David Bell.
Still operating in Great Yarmouth are a decreasing number of Alexander Royale bodied Volvo Olympians - the last step entrance vehicles in the First Eastern Counties fleet, 34108 W485 CWX is seen here on an 8 towards the James Paget Hospital (c) David Bell.
This photo shows First Excel X1 liveried Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B9TL 37578 AU58 EDJ heading towards Norwich on the X1 (c) David Bell.
Looking a little bit worse for wear is Ambassador Travel Optare Solo MX54 WME working on one of the operators last remaining local bus services - the three times a day 730 from Reedham (c) David Bell.
We'll finish this part with an Anglianbus gas bus, MAN Ecocity 110 AU13 FBJ is seen here on the 7 to Norwich, this route interworks with the 61 from Lowestoft and Southwold providing connections along the East Coast (c) David Bell.
Look out for the second part of this feature including more from Anglianbus and First - coming soon!
