Seaside Special... Out & about in Skegness 2015

Just over a year since our last catch up with the Summer bus scene in the Lincolnshire seaside resort of Skegness (find the posts here and here) our regular correspondent David Bell has returned to the area to catch up with the latest happenings, new for 2015 are extra open toppers for the award winning Stagecoach 'Seasiders' service comprising of a Volvo Olympian and two Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B7TLs - photos of those as well as a couple from local independents Brylaine and Red Bus are included below...

We'll begin with the Volvo Olympian, Hattie 16314 IUI 5454 (previously S314 CCD), this bus was previously used on the Lincoln City Tour (c) David Bell.

The first of the two Wrightbus Eclipse Geminis is seen here, Rolly 16964 YJ04 FZE, this batch of Geminis were new to First and joined the Stagecoach fleet when the company purchased the First Chester and Wirral operations in 2013 (c) David Bell.

The second Gemini in Skegness, Milly 16966 YJ04 FZG, there are further examples of this type of newly converted open topper in service with Stagecoach this year in Cleethorpes and in Lincoln on the city tour (c) David Bell.

Meanwhile one of the original Seasiders that didn't feature on the blog last year is seen here, Salty 17678 PSU 443 was previously registered V378 EWE, it's Seasiders livery was designed by a local schoolgirl (c) David Bell.

Moving away from the open toppers now, seen here operating on route 1 is standard Stagecoach liveried Alexander Dennis Enviro 300 27764 FX61 HGL (c) DAvid Bell.

Seen operating on local independent Red Bus' route R1 is Super Pointer Dart JFZ 8629, originally registered S313 SHB this bus was new to Cardiff Bus (c) David Bell.

Our last bus photo from Skegness shows a recent addition to the Brylaine fleet, former Stagecoach London Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Trident LX03 BVV, it is seen here operating on the Interconnect 7 route to Boston (c) David Bell.

Now for something a bit different! In similar vein to the Clown Car featured in our recent post from Great Yarmouth, David spotted this strange 'monster truck' circling the town advertising the Skegness Stadium to potential visitors! (c) David Bell.
