Showbus at Woburn Abbey 2015 - part 1

Sunday 20th September 2015 saw the annual Showbus return to the picturesque Bedfordshire location of Woburn Abbey for the first time since it was last held there in 1992, although the event as usual saw a superb display put on by the 250+ entrants both vintage and modern, those who attended the event or that have followed happenings online will know that the day didn't go smoothly with long delays entering and leaving the site due to traffic congestion and some entrants falling victim to soft ground and sinking into the grass due to a lack of hard standing present at the country estate, that said some excellent photo opportunities were on offer at the location and thankfully the day itself remained fine weather-wise.

Our regular correspondent David Bell has sent us a fantastic selection of photos he took on the day and they are contained in this three part feature, they consist of mainly East Anglia related entries with this part including vehicles from First, Stagecoach, Fowlers Travel, Red Rose and Eastern Counties...

Fowlers Travel Plaxton Profile bodied Volvo B7R JG04 RAM is seen here carrying Lukes fleet names, a recent addition the Lincolnshire based fleet it still carries the livery of its former owner Rambler of Hastings (c) David Bell.

Also present from Fowlers was Plaxton Paramount bodied Leyland Tiger G601 XMD which carries Ambers fleet names, this coach is a recent returnee to the fleet, it was originally new to London Buses in 1990 and later served with Fowlers between 1994 and 1999, it has now returned to fleet after a 16 year absence (c) David Bell.

One of several vehicles entered by Aylesbury based Red Rose was BMC Falcon BX56 XAH, this relatively rare vehicle was until recently with the now closed down Emblings of Guyhirn operation (c) David Bell.

We finish this part with a classic, Eastern Counties ECW coach bodied Bristol RE RE896 SVF 896G, new in 1969 (c) David Bell.
