Showbus at Woburn Abbey 2015 - part 3

Sunday 20th September 2015 saw the annual Showbus return to the picturesque Bedfordshire location of Woburn Abbey for the first time since it was last held there in 1992, although the event as usual saw a superb display put on by the 250+ entrants both vintage and modern, those who attended the event or that have followed happenings online will know that the day didn't go smoothly with long delays entering and leaving the site due to traffic congestion and some entrants falling victim to soft ground and sinking into the grass due to a lack of hard standing present at the country estate, that said some excellent photo opportunities were on offer at the location and thankfully the day itself remained fine weather-wise.

Our regular correspondent David Bell has sent us a fantastic selection of photos he took on the day and they are contained in this three part feature, they consist of mainly East Anglia related entries with this part including vehicles from Eastern Counties, Stagecoach, Beestons, Ipswich Buses, Lodges, First Essex and United Counties...

We start this, the final part with this shot of smart preserved former Eastern Counties 'Eastline' ECW bodied Bristol RELH RPU 869M, this bus was new to National Travel (South East) in 1974 before moving to Eastern Counties in 1978 (c) David Bell.

Next up is Stagecoach East's well known heritage open topper, former Eastern Counties Bristol Lodekka JAH 552D (c) David Bell.

Beestons of Hadleigh travelled to the event from their Essex base with their latest coaching addition, Jonckheere SHV bodied Volvo BF65 WHU, it carries the name 'Lady Ann' (c) David Bell.

Another recent addition for one of the region's operators is this ex Lothian Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident SN51 AXO, it can now be found operating with Ipswich Buses (c) David Bell.

Moving back in time once again we see one of Lodges fantastic heritage coaches, Duple Bella Vega bodied Bedford SB EDD 685C dates from 1965 when it was new to Princess Mary, Bristol. It was until late last year with Fowlers of Holbeach Drove (c) David Bell.

We finish with a charbanc! 'Leyland G7/Dodson Charabus' BD 209, this United Counties vehicle which dates from 1921 is part of the Mike Sutcliffe collection (c) David Bell.
