Stagecoach fleet updates - Cambridgeshire & Norfolk 05/09/15

The last few weeks has seen numerous fleet changes take place across Stagecoach East including at the Norfolk operation in King's Lynn, this joint post aims to round up the changes and also some forthcoming movements expected in the coming weeks...

Stagecoach East (Cambridge and Fenstanton depots)

Last week saw the entry into service of ten brand new Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 bodied Scania N230UDs on The Busway network, details of the batch are 15211-20 YN15 KHH/J/K/L/M/U/R/O/P/T, the vehicles are kitted out to the usual Busway specification with leather Lazzerini Transito seats, power sockets and free on board Wi-Fi - look out for phots of the new buses on the blog soon! The Scanias will be followed this winter by ten brand new Wrightbus Eclipse Urban 3 bodied Volvo B8RLEs 21301-10 which are currently due for delivery during November 2015 and expected to enter service in December 2015.

As a result of the entry into service of the new Busway Scanias described above a number of 'older' examples of the type are in the process of being reloacated from Fenstanton to Cambridge depot where they will be used to upgrade Ely/Newmarket routes including the 9/10/11/12. The vehicles expected to be involved in the move are 15456-65 AE09 GYC/D/F/G/H/J/K/N/O/P.

Stagecoach Norfolk

Following the entry into service of the five new Optare Solo SRs last month the two Alexander Dennis Pointer Darts on loan from Stagecoach South 34629/30 GX54 DVW/Y were taken out of service, in addition Optare Spectra 13981 YJ51 ZVF and Optare Solos 47886 YN03 NCV, 47887 MX03 YDB and 47888 YN03 NCX have been placed into reserve.

Optare Tempo 25130 YN58 FXH is listed as still being away for refurbishment, whilst the latest Coasthopper Optare Solo to be upgraded is 47912 YJ10 EYB.

Interesting news from our friends at Steven Knight Media reveals that a number of Cambridge based 55 reg Alexander ALX400 bodied Dennis Tridents which will be displaced from Ely/Newmarket services when the cascaded ex-Busway Scania/Enviro 400s enter service, will temporarily be based at the Norfolk operation at King’s Lynn. It is expected they will allow a number of Optare Spectras to be withdrawn - look out for more details of these forthcoming changes which will be added to blog when they are available.
